Server with 2 IPs - PCs resolve to different IPs??? |
|
|
I just inherited a network with 4 servers that all have 2 IPs configured on
them. In my experience this is no good. While trying to remove the unneeded
IP from the servers, I have come across several PCs that still try to resolve
the IP address that I removed, even after manually removing all DNS records
pointing to it, flushing the DNS cached, etc. Any ideas why this would be
happening?
Appreciated. |

There are (on modern machines) caches on both the
server and the client side:
DNS server cache
DNS client cache
Use IpConfig /flushDNS or Stop/Start the "DNS Client"
service to flush the client side cache.
