Re: Ad item and discount item with FP1 |

Marcelo,
In FP1 the discount system is now managed through the Marketing resource and
the Discount Manager application. Direct Mail and Ads are still managed
through the Campaigns resource and the BizDesk Campaign Manager application.
That means that discounts no longer have a "built-in ad" in the form of
their display attributes. You can set up an ad for your discount, but you
set it up separate from the discount through the BizDesk Campaign Manager.
In CS2006 (to be released next year), the Marketing resource expands to
include ads and direct mail, so that ads and discounts can once again be
more tightly integrated. So there are some tradeoffs associated with
implementing the FP1 Marketing resource - you get a better UI in the
management application and the ability to generate promotion codes, but you
lose some of the features you were familiar with in the Campaigns resource.
The tradeoffs are discussed in the FP1 read me file at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=24904 under the heading Commerce
Server 2002 FP1 Marketing Resource Limitations.
Good luck.
