Sata external storage for Cluster |
|
|
Hi All.
I have a small application that do not require high computing performance,
but it MUST run.
Because of the need of high reiliability, I have to set up a cluster, but
because of the low performance required, I don't want to spend much money in
expensive SCSI/Fibre-Channel external storage solutions.
My idea is to buy some cheap SATA2 disk and then put them in an external
"box" connected to the servers via USB2.0 or better, via the new eSATA
channel.
Is it possible to do that?
If it's possible, can you suggest me some "box" to accomplish this task?
Really thank you for your help.

I am sorry but that won't work. SCSI clustering is not that expensive, but
no matter what route you take, the required software is expensive. And to
achieve true High Availability, you need to have good processes, management
support, and hardware.
Cheers,
Rod
