Domain DFS and backup |
|
|
Hi,
I've inherited a DFS that is apparently a domain based (accessed via
\\domain name\DFS name. Is there any chance that is not domain based? Also,
if it is in fact domain based is this stored in the directory database? If
not, should I just install DFS somewhere else and recreate all the links
there and keep it inactive? What's the best way to ensure that if the server
the DFS is on now were to go down that my DFS links would still work?
Thanks,

Not really. As \\domain-name resolves to your domain controllers.

Yes, the information is stored as NtFrs member and subscriber objects.

Why? I don't understand. What's the problem with a domain based root?

Configure root replicas for the domain-based namespace.
