I am in the process of setting up a Windows 2003 Advanced Server 4 Node
cluster using an EMC SAN. In my research on the proper procedure I am
reading a lot of different information about the Quorum disk.

Does this "disk" have to be a separate physical disk on all 4 nodes or can
this Quorum disk reside on a separate partition (drive Q) on the SAN?

Thanks
J.

Hi J.

The recommended way is to use one single disk of your SAN. In the best
way you use a Raid1. Give your Quorum Drive dimension of approximattely
500 MB, cause NTFS will work with best performance upper 500 MB.

If I'm not mistaken - you can't install MSCS unless Quorum is 2 GB or larger.

Sorry to say you are mistaken :-)

The only requirement is NTFS...the size can be even 100MB but it is

I use 1 GB, cause then the math is easier :) A SQL MVP I know uses 2 GB
cause he like round numbers. The key is to be at least 500MB.

Cheers,

Rod
