I have a DNS Record in an AD integraded Reverse lookup Zoneon a 2003 Server.
I wish to delete this Record because the maschine did not have this name any
more. But if I delete this record it came back in one saconed.
Can anyone help with this problem

Was this the original DNS server's name record?
Does this record show up as the forward name under the Nameserver tab in the
zone's properties?
Is it a DC's record?
Is the machine set to use DHCP? If so, how is DHCP set to register records?
By default, a W2k or newer machine will register it's record in the reverse
zone. When you renamed the machine, did you run an ipconfig /registerdns to
force an update of the DNS record?

Thanks for your answer,
The record i wish to delete is a reverse lookup entry. The name on witch
this record point in the forward zone dasn't exist there. it is a normal
host record. Yes I have run an ipconfig /registerdns and the machine regists
under the new name, but the old still exists. DC Record maby! the machine
was a DC but was changed to a normal server over dcprome and has now a new
name.
Thanks

I see. Prior to demoting the machine, was it a DNS server? Does the name
still exist under the nameserver tab under the zone properties?
Are there any errors in the Event log of this machine or any of the DCs?
