Here is my problem. I get this trying to install Host Integration Server 2004.
What should I do?

The following platform components failed to install and will need to be
manually installed before setup can proceed: Setup runtime files, Enterprise
Single Sign-On Administration Return Code: 1

Spitzer,

Do you actually need/want the SSO part of HIS? HIS is a bit of a
loose-integration of a number of different things, so most people don't
need/want all of it. In the setup program only check the bits you want.

What are you trying to use HIS to do/achieve?

I do not want SSO but the installation says that it must be installed. The
program I try to install is Host Integration Server Evaluation

Spitzer - I can only assume you're choosing some other option as well that's
reliant on SSO. Not sure what that might be though. I've installed HIS2004 a
lot recently and definitely not had to install SSO. Admittedly it wasn't the
eval version. I don't think I've ever installed the eval version to be honest.

Is there another version? We are MSDN subscribers.

You can download an MSDN "developer" version and try that. I've installed
that before and definitely not had to install SSO.

ESSO admin stuff is installed with anything that can be configured to use
ESSO, such as Manager, Data Providers, TI, etc.

It is possible you have modified things so that the SSO.MSI package can not
be found.

Please provide your setup logs. These are stored in your %temp% directory
(setup*.log and config*.log, with a timestamp of when the install was done).

Hi! I've now managed to install HIS2004. I've installed it on a Windows 2003
Server.
Worked just fine. I think the problem was that I tried to install it on a
Windows 2000 Terminal Server. The install program didn't cope with that.

Thanks everbody for your commitment.

I shall remember that. I've only installed HIS2004 via terminal services on
Windows 2003 and I know that works fine.

Just had this issue myself on an XP workstation installing the admin tools.
Looking at the log files it was MSDTC causing the issue. Doing an "msdtc
-resetlog" fixed it.
