In news:3EC19CF5-CAF2-4176-A121-FE5E6E8298EB@microsoft.com,
benjiman <benjiman@discussions.microsoft.com> made a post then I commented
below
:: Hi,
::
:: I didnt see a WINS discussion so I think this is relevant to this
:: group. Our domain controller on our NT 4 domain that keeps getting a
:: "A duplicate name has been detected on the TCP network. The IP
:: address of the machine that sent the message is in the data. Use
:: nbtstat -n in a command window to see which name is in the Conflict
:: state." every 12 minutes. I looked up the hexidecimal ip address
:: from the event log and cant seem to find a duplicate name on the
:: network. This device is actually a printer. I have rebuilt the WINS
:: database but still keep getting this error messsage. Has anyone run
:: into this problem before. Thanks in advance for the help.
Did you try to ping that IP in the error message? Is there more than one NIC
and/or IP on the machine?
