ADMT's Computer Migration Wizard is supposed to do a pretty good job of
migrating local profiles on the client computers. I've used it myself and
seen it work (mostly).

But it does not migrate all apps/settings, especially 3rd party software. I
had been warned about this beforehand so it wasn't a surprise. I guess it
has something to do with old SID's hard-coded in the registry or soemthing?

Anyway, I found, for example, that Picasa didn't retain it's settings/info.
I was also told that Mozilla settings wouldn't migrate. So my question is
this....

Is there a list of (3rd party) applications, in particular the widely used
ones, that are known to NOT migrate settings, if one uses the Computer
Migration Wizard and its dispatched agent?

Such a list would be VERY helpful... I could therefore know up front, if I
were likely to run into any software problems for all or specific users and
try to minimize inconvenience to them.

Thanks.

Hi Rich,

I noticed that you submitted the same problem in partner newsgroup
<microsoft.private.directaccess.win2003.setup-deployment>.

Let's focus on that thread as the partner newsgroups are more qualified for
you to be severed by the Professionals from Microsoft. In the meantime, we
welcome peers here sharing their great experience to help you with this
issue.

Thanks and have a great day!

Yes I sometimes post in both partners & public newsgroups. And yes, I look for
peer feedback from the public newsgroups, rather than the "official" answers I
expect in the partner newsgroups.
