Windows Server 2003 Setup problem |
|
|
I have downloaded the trial version of windows server 2003 several times now
and copied them to disk as per the instructions.
I am unable to install the server on any of my systems. each time, it starts
to do something then tells me it can't find the correct program or the
correct file to use. The only main difference that i can see is that
according to the instructions, there should be a setup.exe file ahich is also
downloaded at the same time as the server iso image file. It doesn't matter
how many time i download this program, i never seem to get this setup file.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I currently have systems which are running Windows Me, Windows XP Home and
Windows XP Pro. I have trie to install on all of these systems. |

If you downloaded an ISO image then after you create the CD-Rom from the
image you should be able to boot from the CD-Rom to start the install
process.

What exactly is it that does not work? Generally setup.exe should be run
from within Windows as opposed to booting the CD-Rom.

Okay here goes,
I downloaded the program and then burnt it to CD. There is no setup file.
The only file that downloads is a iso file. When i click on this file it
opens up a program on my system called Sonic Record Now. It then starts to
look for a file called rnenu.msi, which it can't find and i do not have this
file on my system.
If i am reading the documentation correctly, a setup.exe file should be
downloading with the iso file. for some reason, this is not happening.
Is there another way to get this setup file??
This is the first time that i have ever had this problem with a downloaded
file.
Thanks |

You'll need some burning software such as Nero or Roxio. If you don't have
either of these then there is a tool here you can use. If you just copied
the ISO image file to CD-Rom then this is your problem. Roxio and or Nero
read the ISO image file and convert this into an exact image of a bootable
CD-Rom.

I found your post as I have a similar problem - being prompted for RNENU.MSI when clicking on an .iso file in Windows Explorer. (My HP Pavillion doesn't come with the source files for preinstalled Sonic RecordNow!)
There is a work round :
Put a blank CD in your CD burner.
Run RecordNow from the Start menu.
Select the Backup Projects tab (2nd from right in v 7.2)
Select Burn Image and locate your .iso file.
Click the red Burn button.
Your setup files will be on the CD created.
Alternatively you could use a utility such as ISOBuster (www.isobuster.com) to access the files. _________________ Rhodri Evans |

Hi all
Rhodrie,
I had the same issue as yourself, I burned it as an ISO image using Record now and the program works just as well.
So, anyone else having this problem, burn the "Item" as an ISO image an all will be well.
Thanks

I have a similar problem with Sonic Recordnow 7.2:
I installed Nero after I couldn't get a good enough audio cd set up. Then NERO failed to recognize my drives (which all other programs do), so I go back to Recordnow and it doesn't recognize ANY of my drives. It says "NO RECORDER". I go to check for drives, and it keeps taking me back to the no recorder menu. It will not drop down the menu for me. The only time it will drop down the menu to check for drives is when I am in the middle of a project. It then tells me to close the projects and then check for the drives. I close the project, and the drop down menu glitches and won't let me drop down to check for drives. HELP!
I go to add/remove programs to change settings, and since I have an HP Pavillion PC, it is looking for the RENUN.msi file to repair this program. This is really frustrating, I hate to remove this program because it came with my PC without a disc. But it is on the recovery drive which is unaccesable to the owner! |
