DNS not Dynamically updating |
|
|
Here is my configuration:
DHCP Server 2003 with AD and DNS all on the same box.
DNS set for allow Nonsecure and Secure
DHCP set for Dynamically Update DNS for clients who do not request
My XP machine that is using the above server for DNS will not register in
DNS when I do a ipconfig /registerdns. Using a sniffer I see my XP machine
renew the DHCP lease upon the /registerdns and also use the DNS server to
find the address of the DNS server, however it does not register.
Also no other machines on the network are getting dynamically registered,
WINXP, WIN98, WIN2000.
Any Ideas??? |

Are the clients set within TCP/IP Properties (DNS Tab) to "Register this
connections address in DNS"?

What is the domain name?
Is it a single-label name?
Can you post an unedited ipconfig /all?

the domain name of the machine is mcjunkin.com the domain name in the DNS
server is McJunkin.com - could the capitalization be causing a problem?

DNS is case insensitive, but it will respond with the case that is queried
to it.
