event id 6161 on windows 2003 server post sp1 install/update |
|
|
Service Pack 1 for 2003 was installed on 3/8/05 from 4/8/05 have started
getting 6161 errors:
The document OMNIS 7 owned by counter1 failed to print on printer
\\counter1\MEDICARE. Data type: NT EMF 1.008. Size of the spool file in
bytes: 13776. Number of bytes printed: 0. Total number of pages in the
document: 1. Number of pages printed: 0. Client machine: \\TMC-DCTS. Win32
error code returned by the print processor: 0. The operation completed
successfully.
This happens spasmodically throughout the day, ie will be printing fine then
nothing comes out, user keeps trying to print and finally something will come
out.
I got them to tell me the exact times and that is how I found the event id
6161. Looked back to when SP1 was installed and that is when the errors
started. Prior to SP1 install these errors do not exist. Site has been up and
running with these printers (there are 3 printers that this is hapenning with
- 2 are brother printers and 1 is a nec pinwriter) for about 8 months now,
problem has been happening for just over 1 month.
Pretty sure (99.9%) that it is SP1 because it is not the first issue client
has had, but can't find any fixes for this on the internet. There were two
articles close (824399 and 832219) but these both relate to Windows 2000 and
I don't like hotfixes that haven't been designed for earlier operating
systems.
Can anyone help?
thanks
