ADMT - Interforest mixed mode Win2k to new 2k3 domain |
|
|
Hello,
I have a domain running all Win2k servers, in mixed mode at the moment.
We need to migrate the user and client machine accounts to the new
domain. Unfortunately, this client has several Win98 and WinME
machines and they are not prepared to update the client pc's at this
time. Many are XP luckily. ADMT highly recommends running the source
and target domains in native mode when migrating users and client
machines, but with the need for legacy support, any advice on how to
migrate the legacy pc's, and will not running in native mode cause any
problems when migrating the user accounts(SIDs)? Thanks! |

Native mode ONLY affects replication between AD DCs and NT 4.0 BDCs. It has
no affect what so ever on client computers.

No. You must set the domain to native mode for ADMT to work.
