I am placing this isn this forum asthe problem appears to have started with a DFS issue. If in the wrong forum then my apologies, and I will move to an appropriate

I have a test network, (Server 2003 (sp1) XP Pro(sp2) AD), which I use before rolling out to a production environment. Currently I only have one station and Server 2003 as the DC on this test network. Recently I was trying out DFS and had it set up with one of the links pointing to a share on the XP station. I deleted this link earlier this week and I lost logon scripts, home drives, file synchronisation, etc to the station.

Checking the server everything appears to be Ok including FRS and DNS.

From the station I can ping and trace route the server using the fqdn and the ipaddress. (I can also do the same from the server to the station.) I can see folders on the server from the station without problem. If I navigate from the station to the server's netlogon share and run the logon script (vbs) it appears to run and though I have included the homedrive in the script it does not install. The message coming back would indicate that it thinks that the drive is already mapped.

On the station I am getting event viewer error messages with the antivirus package, but that is probably related to the problem, rather than being the problem. I am also seeing event IDs:

Has anyone seen this problem before or has any advise?

TIA

Can you please explain what happened? What were the links? I can't see why
SYSVOL and a domain DFS root have anything in common...
