Re: Very Slow Login |

For AD services like login to work properly, you need to have the
clients pointing to your local DNS server (because that is where the info is
kept). This is probably your AD server.
So set the clients to use the router as their default gateway, but set
them to use the local DNS server only. Then modify your local DNS server to
forward to a public DNS service (such as your ISP).

I have a small windows server 2003 network of a server and 3 computers. I
also have a linksys router that provides internet access via a cable
modem.
It is very slow to login to the network. Also, sometimes the dirves and
printer connections are lost on the client computers.
I think it has something to do with dns settings on the router vs settings
on the server to active directory.
On the server the default gateway is set to the router (192.168.1.1). The
preferred DNS server is set to 127.0.0.1 and the alternative dns server is
set to the router (192.168.1.1).
The router is plugged into the cable modem and then into the network. It
is not plugged into the server.
The clients are all set to obtain ip address and dns automatically
Any help would be appreciated.
