As our main file server is nearly full I want to use DFS so that I can
transfer a very large folder to another server.

The CAD files in this folder contain absolute links to jpg files in the
form s:\departments\cad\jobs\nw0032\..... where s:\ is a mapped network
drive in the form of \\server_name\fdt\

I can set up DFS using a standalone DFS Root which enables me to follow
the format \\server_name\fdt\ and should in theory allow the absolute
linked files to work however I'm having a few problems.

1. I can open the folder and see its contents from my desktop machine
but other users can't

2. Shortcuts to folders do not now work.

3. Directly typing Run \\server_name\fdt does not now work.

I would be very grateful if someone could shed some light on this
problem.

Cheers,

Neil

You'll need to create the DFS namespace and then create links. You'll then
need to map \\server\dfs\share
