Moving DNS Server from Windows 2000 Server to Windows 2003 S |
|
|
In my efforts to move the DNS server over, I found this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;280061
This article is for moving from 2000 to 2000, Everything seemed to go
through fine. I import the registry entries to the 2003 server and they are
fine and can be viewed via regedit.exe. But as soon as I start the "DNS
server" service, the zones that were imported are all erased without a trace.
I have done this about 5 times, trying in safe mode, disabling other
services, ect. but still no luck at getting it to hold the zones in the
registry. Any idea how to solve this problem or how else I can move these
zones over? I have roughly 500 forward and reverse dns entries, so a bulk
transfer method would be prefered.
Thank you,
Lucas

try dnsdump from www.reskit.net/scripts it exports and imports DNS zones
from a command line.
