I have decided to have a go at creating our internal company website, I am
new to all of this and would appreciate some advice. I have inserted our
company logo into the site image box on the Customize home page, and I can
see it fine from there. However, when I go onto the live site via
http://companyweb/default.aspx, I cannot see the image. There is a small box
with a red cross where the image should be. Can someone advise wh this is
happening?

The red cross means the image is missing from directory. Right click on that
image & select properties. Check the URL of that image.

Now

1. Make sure you saved the image to correct directory with correct name
2. Reset the security permission on the image file by going to that diretory
path. (Inherit the permisson on that image from its parent directory)

This will hopefull resolve it.
