Hello,

I currently have Sharepoint services w/SP1 installed on a windows2003
server. The current implementation is for document sharing,
specifically excel spreadsheets. When a user trys to edit the xls
document by selecting the "edit in microsoft excel" option on the drop
down list and the file is currently either checked out or being
accessed by another user the file immediately opens in excel as a read
only file.

Excel used to prompt the user if they wanted to open a read only copy
or to be notified when the document becomes available for editing. This
prompt no longer happens and I cannot figure out why. Has anyone else
experienced this and can point me in the correct direction as to why
this prompt is no longer happening?

Thanks
Matt
