Hi,

I have a small network built up of one Windows 2000 Server (SP3) and one
Windows 2000 Professional edition (SP3). The computer on which I've
installed Win2kP has some hardware problem. Win2kP crashes all the time, at
least every second day (NTFS failure on boot-up). After numerous attempts to
solve the problem I will now buy a new one. However, here's my problem: I've
installed Win2kP so many times on that computer and joined the local domain
that my Win2kServer gives me a licensing warning:

Source: LicenseService
Event ID: 221
License usage for product "SMBServer 5.0" is nearing maximum number of per
server licenses purchased. Consult license manager from the administrative
tools folder for more info.

(Frankly, I don't know if these many installations are the reason for this
error message, but I presume it is as I don't possibly know any other reason
for this message to appear.)

Any help on this is quite appreciated.

Arndt

This is warning on the server and will not affect your ability to install
Win2kPro.
You can safely ignore this message.
BTW, I would recommend installing Win2k SP4 and latest hotfixes on both
Win2kSrv and Win2kPro.

Thanks a lot for helping me! OK, I'll leave it as it is then.

I'd like to, but I can't as they changed some rights management in SP4 and
I'm not able to perform remote debugging anymore after installation (or I
would have to give Administrators rights to the ASPNET account, which I
don't want to [using Visual Studio 7.0]). So I unfortunately have to stick
with SP3 and some worm hotfixes :((

Regards,
Axel
