I have a SBS 2003 that I have setup with DHCP. I am trying to get a Windows
2000 client to get an IP address assigned from the server. I think I have set
the server up correctly. The IP address of the server private side is
192.168.2.1 and so have authorized the DHCP server on that address. I have
set a scope of 192.168.2.5-192.168.2.49 with the gateway as 192.168.2.1 along
with the same DNS servers as the server has. I have activated the scope and
it says the DHCP service is running. I have tried numerous times to get an IP
address from it. Even ipconfig /renew, etc. I know I can access the server
fine from the same pc when it has a static IP so I know connectivity is not
the issue. Is there some setting I am missing? When I do ipconfig /renew I
get a message that says DHCP Server is unreachable. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Dezere

Use the whole range 192.168.2.1 -- 192.168.2.254

Use Exclusions to limit which addresses it actually gives out. This is the
only way the scope is "flexable" for the future,..otherwise you must delete
and create a new scope everytime you need to adjust the range of addresses
it uses.

I don't see why it isn't working at this point though. Look for errors in
the Event Logs.
