Using MOM 2005 for first time. I have a number of test computers with the
agents and have started to receive alerts. I have been manually installing
agents, but would like to use the search function in the computer groups to
add them to specific groups. I cant seem to get this to work.

After you create a search in a computer group how long should it take to
populate? Should "calculate membership" do it instantaneously?

Good Morning Henry,
As long as at least one attribute scan has run on the agent machines,
the calculation of computer group membership should happen very quickly.
What search criteria are you using? Also, if you have a small number of
computers, you can explicitly add them to a given computer group, this will
take place immediately.

I am probably not setting the search criteria correctly. I am trying to
separate out my windows 2k and 2003 servers without looking them up manually.
Can you suggest a search critieria known for this configuration?

Good Afternoon Henry,
Certainly, you can separate these computers using a formula rather than
search criteria. Specify a formula that uses the attribute, "Microsoft
Windows Current Version". For Windows 2000 systems, the value is "5.0", for
Windows 2003 systems, the value is "5.2".
So the formula for Windows 2000 systems would look like this,
"AttributeValue(Microsoft Windows Current Version)="5.0"". Don't forget the
double quotes around the value. Hope this helps.
