Message Archiving |
|
|
I have managed to archive messages with users having SIP accounts with live
communications running. But when using messenger 5.1 as the client, and also
having the client connect/sign-in with .NET accounts (hotmail/msn), is it
possible to store these messages and archive them into a SQL database as well?

Tim,
We do not have any tool but the html file
ArchivingDataBaseQueries-Readme.htm (shipped as reskit for Vienna and sp1)
contains a few widely used queries which can be used to query the database.
Thx,

Hey,
Sorry, ignore my previous answer - this was meant for your other posting.
The answer to this question is no. These messages will not even go through
the LCS server for the Archiving Agent to pick up.
Thx,

Tim:
I just noticed this post as well. IMLogic also makes a tool to monitor and
manage the public/commercial IM products. Note: I have not used the product
for archiving the public/commercial IM products. However, I am sure that
their marketing folks have pages of creative that does note how their
products are being utilized in companies and organizations.
To the best of my knowledge, they do not have anything that can
archive/monitor the hotmail e-mail messages. However, when it's configured,
it will catch the IMs. There are several corporate products that will
monitor, track, and archive usage with the commercial e-mail vendors.
One thing I would recommend is that you have a solid policy from your HR and
Legal departments as well as management and any corporate chain of command
is in place before you start monitoring private IM and e-mail conversations.
People get pretty touchy about their systems and personal e-mail and IMs,
even though they are using the corporations resources to send/receive those
communications.
