You can change what the required fields are, however in the case of Events I
do not know what would happen if there was no Begin date entered so proceed
at your own risk.
You will need to edit
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\60\TEMPLATE\1033\SPS\LISTS\EVENTS\SCHEMA.XML
and look for the Field named Begin. There will be a attribute called
Required that is set to TRUE. Change it to FALSE and recreate your event
list.
Again, DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. Most likely there is a good reason for
making this required.
You can also change the default views in this file, although it is a bit
harder and requires some knowledge of CAML.
