Ultrasound propagation tests fail, but replication working |
|
|
WS2003 Standard. Currently a mix of WS2003 SP1 & RTM.
I installed Ultrasound and set up weekly propagation tests; 1 MB file, 4
hour timeout. One server ALWAYS fails (times out) the replication tests for
the 3 DFS shares it replicates. Replication to its other partners succeeds;
it's just replication to this one server that times out. This happens
whether I initiate the test using that server or any of its partners.
However, if I do my own "propagation test" by manually dropping a 1MB file
in a DFS share which the server is responsible for replicating, it
replicates quickly to the other partners. Doesn't matter what partner I drop
the file on; it works. In general replication seems to be working.
I've removed and reinstalled the Ultrasound provider on that server; no
change.
What should I look for?

Is Ultrasound collecting data from this server ? Please check whether it is
scheduled: tools/configure Ultrasound/schedule provider and whether it
succeeded: advanced/general/Ultrasound updates view, Successful column.

Ultrasound reports other data about the server, so I don't think that's the
problem, but I reinstalled the provider anyway. The provider reinstall was
reported as successful. The problem, however, persists.
