I have heard of that happening if there were no leases available in the
scope for the DHCP client [taking reserved IP]. Now I know that is not
supposed to happen, but check that you have plenty of leases available and
check that you have the latest Service Pack installed on your DHCP server.
You also might want to consider giving the server that it took the IP for a
static IP address so as not to risk down time again. --- Steve

that was restricted. It never showed that it had this IP address in
the DHCP console or the logs, but when I did a WINIPCFG on the PC, it
did have the restricted address. Can some one please tell me or
explain to me why this would have happened so I can make sure it
doesn't happen again. It took down production when the PC grabbed the
restricted IP Address.
Thank you
