Re: Warning message when mapping to DFS share |

For future questions, try the DFS FAQ at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/techinfo/overview/dfsfaq.mspx.
Here is the answer:
Windows shell displays this message when you try to run an executable file
from any path that includes a fully qualified domain name, regardless of
whether the path is hosted by DFS. To prevent this message from occurring,
add the domain to the list of trusted intranet zones on the client.

| Quote: | I set our logon script to map the "N:" drive to
\\domain.local\dfs\someshare.
However, when user now run executables from the N: drive, Windows first
pops
up an error message stating that some executable can be harmful to your PC
and may contain virus. The user must click "Run" or "Okay" before the
program will start.
If I have the N: drive via the old fashion \\server\share path, there is
no
warning message.
Any idea why the warnings pop up and how to avoid them in the future? |
