DDNS doesnt register entries |
|
|
I've got a Win2K3 DC with both a DNS & DHCP server.
The clients get a correct ip and the correct data (DNS, Domain name
....)
BUT, they are not registered in the DNS-zone files.
There are no errors or other information in the log files about trying
to put entries in the zone files.
I'll put down how everythings set up already:
DHCP is active, authorized and the 2 checks in the properties are
enabled (Always Dynamically update ...)
DNS is up and working, nslookup on client resolves server ip&
hostname.
The client gets the correct data, and in TCP/IP properties it is set
that he has to register the addresses of the connection in the DNS.
ipconfig /registerdns doesn't do it either.. |

Is the DHCP Client Service running on the domain clients?
Dynamic DNS Updates Do Not Work if the DHCP Client Service Stops:

Then Kevin replied below:
To add, the clients need to have a Primary DNS suffix or Connection specific
DNS suffix for the domain to register in.
DHCP can issue the connection DNS suffix with option 015, and can even
register for the clients, IF the DHCP server machine has the DDNS servers in
its TCP/IP properties on the active connection.
