hi
I have a windows server 2003 runing in my network. One of the winXP
workstation deleted some files
on the network drive which is located on the server. How can I get those
files back?
(I couldn't find the files in recycle bin on both server and workstation)

Thanks a lot

Files deleted over the network do not go into *any* recycle bin.

From your latest backup.

You can use a third party program such as File Scavenger or others which may
even be free. Note that you can configure Shadow Copy Volume for shares on
Windows 2003 server which you can configure to backup files on a schedule
and make them available to clients that have the Shadow Copy client
installed. The links below have more detail. --- Steve

http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/system/fwdatarecovery.html
http://www.quetek.com/prod02.htm --- free trial, but limits size of files to
recover but you would be able to see if they are available.

Items deleted from a floppy disk or a network drive are permanently deleted
and are not sent to the Recycle Bin. See:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/en/advanced/help/default.asp?url=/windows2000/en/advanced/help/recycle_bin.htm

There may be third party products which provide an undelete capability for
network files.

2003 Server... Maybe you can rt click the folder and click previous versions
and restore the file from there.. That is if you have MS shadow copy service
running and said folders enabled...
