document level security quiz |
|
|
Hello,
I posted this also on the developpment group, so here it goes again:
I am going to develop a special add-in for WSS in order to allow document
level security.
I wonder if any of you have special needs, I would like to make a list of
"wanted features" and try to resolve most of them. If everything works well
I will put the code available on a WSS community.
My primary concerns are:
- file/folder allow/deny access for an AD/WSS group
- file/folder allow/deny access for an AD/WSS user
- maximum speed
- database repository for the ACL
Regards,
Bogdan |

You were correct to post it to the development group.
You are *incorrect* to post it here.
The development group is the only newsgroup that deals with WSS Programming
which this is a request for.
Please continue to post WSS programming messages there *and only there*.
This is the administration group and does not deal in programming issues now
that there is a subnewsgroup for those questions.
Please help us to keep the focus of these two newsgroups separate.

Mike, I appreciate that you keep the list clean but in this case I believe
Bogdan is asking us Admin types for input to an admin enhancement. I'm glad
he posted it here since I don't usually visit the programming group unless
I'm actively looking for a solution.
Bogdan, I'd like to see the enhancement have the ability to keep
unauthorized users/groups from seeing the file. Maybe a couple of options to
restrict user/groups to read only or completley hide the file. We have a
document library that has several files that act as "templates". They are
just regular files not actually applied as a template to the folder. Users
can now choose one and they are supposed to save as a different file name
then make the changes. Problem is eventually someone will save the file with
the same name and thus "blow away" the template. If they had read only access
they would be forced to save as a different file name.
Could you also do this for lists???
