LU Printer on TN3270 |
|
|
Hi,
I have confihured on HIS2004 some display LU (LUA) associated with Printer LU.
I can connect with the display LU but when i try to lunch the printer
session this one disply a message like : Actif and not connected. On the HIS
i have the status : SSCP. But on the Host i have this message :
IST6631 BIND FAIL REQUEST RECIEVED, SENSE=0821000
Any idea ?
Thanks. |

Sabir - assuming the second four bytes were all zeroes (you only put three in),
then the error is the below.
I would guess the mainframe lu isn't configured as a printer, but the sna
server side is.
---
0821 Invalid Session Parameters: Session parameters were not valid
or not supported by the half-session whose activation was
requested.
Bytes 2 and 3 following the sense code contain sense code
specific information. Settings allowed are:
0000 No specific code applies.

Neil, Thanks for answer.
The LU on the host is configured as a printer, because i test it with 802.2
connection.
I dont understand well you solution : wherre can i put three zeroes in and
how ? because it is my first installation of HIS 2004.
Thanks in advance.

Sabir-
I believe Neil is referring to the fact that SNA sense data is usually 8
bytes, and you only provided 7 bytes. 0821 stands for Invalid Session
Parameters as Neil pointed out. The last four bytes can give more detail
about the error condition, but in this case I would assume Neil is probably
correct in guessing that the missing byte is another 0.
What I would suggest is that you're probably going to need to take a trace
to see what is going on. I would recommend you stop your SNA Server service
and then turn on SNA Server Data Link Control tracing using the snatrace.exe
utility. Then turn on the SNA Server service and attempt to start up the
printer session. After doing this you can examine the traces in the trace
viewer (tracevwr.exe) utility. You should see an ACTPU for the connection,
and an ACTLU for the specific printer LU you are trying to use. When you try
and start the printer session in SNA Server, I believe you should see SNA
Server send a NOTIFY request to the host which should trigger the host to
send down a BIND for the session. You're going to need to try and see which
of these steps is failing. Also... are there any events being logged on the
SNA Server itself? If you have trouble narrowing this down you may want to
start a support case with our support team so they can help you review the
traces and isolate the problem.
HTH,

Hi Sabir,
When you create a printer session using the TN3270E support of
HIS2004, the printer device type expected on the non-IBM host side of
the connection is a TN3270E compatible client emulating an IBM 3287
style of printing device.
What TN3270E client software are you using to test your TN3270 printer
LU on the HIS2004 server?
Thanks.
Best Regards,
/Paul
