hi,

i've installed LCS2005 EE with SP1. users are able to login with windows messenger 5.1 with their SIP. but unable to add each other. in other words. the defined sip users can not add each other in windows messenger contacts. it finds the contacts but while finishing the operation it says "Operation could not be completed. your search failed for an unknown reason. Please try again later"

Please help me out in this

Faisal.

I am going to take a shot and guess that it is likely the A record for your
LCS 2005 EE pool.

When using LCS 2005 Enterprise Edition it is very important to create the
DNS record for the pool address and point the client to the pool address
rather than directly to the server. This is important even in a single
server environment. If you have a single server then you should create an A
record for the pool that has the same IP as Server.

Ex (A Records)
Server1.domain.local - 10.10.10.105
Pool1.domain.local - 10.10.10.105

Ex with a load balancer (F5 or similar device)
Ex (A Records)
Server1.domain.local - 10.10.10.105
Server1.domain.local - 10.10.10.106
Pool1.domain.local - 10.10.10.110 (Note: This would be the virtual IP,
or VIP, assigned to the load balancer.)

Meni's LCS guide site has a quick overview of this process:

Bob,

I've done that earlier but still the error comes. can you tell me about that Load balancer is necessary or not?

also following are the configuration on the pool i've done. let me know if someting wrong in it.

Scheduled AD re-sync for ABS attributes- Failure [0x80040154] Class not registered Error still comes when configuring Address Book, successfully installed the AB service.

In a single server envrionment, nope, not at all. In fact, it is possible
to use DNS round robin (the TTL keeps them on the same server for ~60
minutes (or more/less, dependent upon your TTL)). ...as long as the clients
connect to the pool name, they are in good shape.

Not sure on the ABS service. Is there anything in the event log regarding
the ABS? Assumptions are that you followed the documentation for the
configuration.
