Migrating Sites |
|
|
What tool can I use if I want to move a site, with all of the document
libraries, from a SharePoint Server to a different SharePoint Server. For
example:
Source
//Server1/sites/newsite
Destination
//Server2/sites/newsite
Both servers have their own database. Server1 will be taken offline. |

smigrate (losing authorities)
stsadm (not losing)
Look them up in the Admin Guide.
(smigrate is also(?) a KB article / Microsoft download)

Note too this response (not from me)
--------
Since I was moving sub-sites, I decided to use smigrate. It worked well,
but you lose the security info once the site is migrated.
Also, you have to specify the user ID and password when you run smigrate;
otherwise you will receive "ERROR: 6553609 You are not authorized to perform
the current operation." when you try to restore the site.
---------
from an earlier thread.
