Application Event Log 9100 Events |
|
|
I have intalled a brand-new installation of MOM 2005
Workgroup Edition onto a brand-new Windows 2003 Server
Standard Edition server using SQL Server 2000 Enterprise
Edition, SP3. I am getting my Application Event Log
filled up with Events from Source Microsoft Operations
Manager, ID 9100, with descriptions such as "An error
occurred on line 1177 while executing script 'MOM Database
State Monitoring'
Source: SWbemObjectEx
Description: Server execution failed", and "An error
occurred on line 48 while executing script 'Microsoft
Windows Base OS Exclude Exchange From Available MBytes'
Source: SWbemObjectEx
Description: Server execution failed". Please help! I
find nothing in Microsoft KB or doing a Google search on
this event. |

What security context (user) are you running the Action Account under?

See if there is a corresponding alert in the Operator console for this
event. There might be more info in the Product Knowledge for that alert.

Re: Application Event Log 9100 Events |

The "Product Knowledge" suggests either WMI is not running
(it is) or the Action Account has insufficient priveliges.
This is a BRAND NEW installation; I haven't touched a
thing yet. I have configured no "Action Account". The
service account for the MOM service is the local machine's
Administrator account. I've also tried installing with
the Domain Administrator as the service account.
Why is this happening to me, with a stock install right
out of the box? All I want, for now, is to install the
product and not get an Event Log full of Error Events that
are totally undocumented, and that nobody else seems to
get! |

OK, I've uninstalled MOM 2005 WG entirely, added a domain
user named "momaction", re-installed MOM 2005 Workgroup
Edition, specifying the "momaction" Domain User as
the "Action" user. I get all the exact same errors.
Product Knowledge says, "Make sure that the agent's Action
Account has sufficient privileges to access the resources
or perform the actions that the script is attempting. For
more information about the privileges required, see the
appropriate Management Pack Guide." I have no idea where
to start. I'm getting dozens of errors every hour, from a
variety of scripts, all of them "stock" default install
scripts.
What am I missing here? All I've done is a basic
install. That's it. Am I the only MOM 2005 Workgroup
Edition user on the planet who has encountered these
problems? Why am I leading such a "charmed" life?
I don't see how to check the Action Account privileges,
nor why I should have to immediately after a basic
installation. Someone, please help! |

for the sql monitoring scripts to work you need
also a corresponding sql login for local system!
you checked this? is the builtin\Administrators login in sql existend?
