Re: DFS replication over private WAN link |

FRS, the replication engine behind "DFS replication" uses fully
qualified names when trying to connect with its partners. Can you
verify that from each partner machine, it can resolve the other
partner machine's fully qualified name?
It would also be good to verify AD replication is working well between
your DCs and DNS looks good on both ends.

Please post FRS related questions to
microsoft.public.windows.server.dfs_frs and prefix the subject line
with "FRS:" to make it easier to spot. Note that FRS is used to
replicate SYSVOL on domain controllers and DFS root and link targets.

I have two sites with one Win2K3 DC in each site. There is one member server
in one site which we can call as primary site (PS) and the other site has
only one DC with 15 users. These two sites are connected over a private T-1
line on a different private LAN's IP subnet.
I want to replicate a Public folder from the other site to the member server
in PS. I created a DFS root in the primary DC in PS linked and created
replicas in other two servers.
I am getting 13508 Event ID errors saying DNS could not resolve other
server's FQDN name. The error appears in both the servers. No replication.
But when I map the DFS shared folder from stations and drop something in it,
it correctly picks the closeby server and drops into it. But they don't
replicate. WHY???
Thanks
