linking an OU to a security group? |
|
|
I have created an OU on my server, and want to add a security policy to it,
that all the members of the group need a password with a specific password
length, how the heck can I do this, been trying for an hour or so now, but
can't seem to get the links to come together.
Thanks |

ok my research has thrown this up, what i have done is this,
In the OU in active directory users and computers I right click the the OU
then click properties, go to the group policy tab click open, then in the
left hand tab of the new screen i right click the OUand create and link a GPO
here and then name it.
Then in the right hand panel i right click and edit, and then click my way
through computer maagement/windows settings/security settings/account
policies/password policy/minimum password age and then set the password
age,Took me a while to figure out but is the correct way?

That's how I used to do it. I now use the Group Policy Editor. I make a GPO
based on the name of what I am doing or the group of things... ie, Terminal
Server Lockdown Policy, or Force Users to have Companyweb homepage and
Autoproxy etc....
When you make a GPO in there, you have the option of which users to apply it
to. You can choose the security group rather than "Authenticated Users"
giving you more control over who actually has the policy applied. Or, you
can apply the policy to an OU like you have. or both!
Many ways to skin a cat as they say....
