Extranet Alerts point to Intranet Address |
|
|
There seems to be no consistency in how alert addresses render in extranet
created/oriented alerts. I've created alerts logged into the portal via the
FQDN extranet URL as an adminsitrator, sometimes when I create an alert, the
alert goes out using the FQDN extranet URLs, other times it does not (i.e.
people recieve it with the intranet URL and thus of course they can't resolve
that address).
What explains this? Is there a specific ordering in how one creates alerts
that can gaurantee alerts return the correct URL?
Thanks for any help/assistance/feedback. |

I don't think it matters how you login but rather the settings under the
"Configure alternate portal site URLs for intranet, extranet, and custom
access"
Start the SharePoint Central Administration web site and click on the
"SharePoint Portal Server" link. "Configure alternate portal site URLs for
intranet, extranet, and custom access" is located under the "Portal Site and
Virtual Server Configuration" section.

Thanks but those are all set correctly and in fact becuase I'm using ISA
Server link translation, they aren't a factor anyways becuase link
translation from the netbios name to the FQDN is done at the gateway.
Several people have stated that how you're logged in does in fact affect how
alerts are rendered URL wise and sometimes it works correctly while other
times it does not. This seems like a rather big problem. Do you have any
other ideas?
