Prob with the services |
|
|
Hi All
When I try to use the Services snap-in to start or stop
any service, I'd receive the following error message:
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or
control request in a timely fashion.
I am the Domaine Admin and unable to things on this
server. I looked at this KB:
Error Message "Error 1053" When Using the Services Snap-in
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=278712
This wasn't helpful to me because even if I waited 5
hours, restarted the server and so on, not a single
service has started. I checked the Event Viewer, no
related error was found.
Can anyone please help ?
Many thanks. |

Hello,
In addition to the Chris's questions, could you let me know what is the
service pack level on SBS 2000?
Please clear the event log, restart the machine and reproduce this issue,
could you find any error recorded in the Event log?
Based on my research, it is possible that you need to repair the SBS system
by performing an in-place upgrade. I suggest you install Service Pack1a
from SBS 2k from the link below to check the status:
http://www.microsoft.com/sbserver/downloads/sp1a.asp
If the issue persists, please to the following article to gather the
MPSreport (domain controller version) and send it to v-rebc@microsoft.com
for research.
Overview of the Microsoft Configuration Capture Utility (MPS_REPORTS)

Any update, let us get in touch!
