Hello,

I have created a domain based DFS, called CAS. It's root targets are on 5
Domain controllers for now. I have setup a replication of the DFS-Root
between this 5 servers.

I have created two links within the DFS-root, one ("Admin-Scripts") with a
replication between the 5 servers, and the second (FIS) just as a link to a
different fileserver and no replication or multiple targets for the second
one.

It should look like this:

DFS-ROOT
|
+Admin Scripts
+FIS

but it looks like this

DFS-ROOT
|
+Admin Scripts
+Admin-Scripts_NTFRS_173ab4a0
+FIS
+FIS_NTFRS_187af900

I don't konw what this additional Folders are good for, and I also can not
delete them. The "correct" Folders are working as expected, and the
replication within the "Admin-Scripts" is also working.

What is wrong?

Regards
Stefan

The reason you're seeing the strange folders is because you are replicating
the root. We advise against this for many reasons, including the morphed
folder issue you are seeing.

For details, see our FAQ at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/techinfo/overview/dfsfaq.mspx.

The questions you want are called:

Q. If I use multiple root targets in a domain-based DFS namespace, do I need
to enable replication on the root?

and

Q. How do I delete a link folder?
