Forcing domain controller from workstation |
|
|
Is there a way to choose which domain controller will be used for logon
from the workstation? I need to do this for some testing.
The workstation is XP and the domain is Windows 2003.
There is only one site which contains all the domain controllers, and I
do not have domain admin rights, so I can't specify sites or change
weightings.
Thanks,

Like I said, I'm not a Domain Admin. I have NO access to the domain
controllers or DNS. They are handled by a different department. I do
have admin rights on the workstations. |

There may be a way.
Never tried this before, but its worth a shot.
Put the FQDN of every DC into the hosts file on your workstation.
Put the IP address of a single DC as the IP address for every DC in your
host file.
Now when the hosts file loads into cache, all your DCs resolve to a single
IP address.
The IP address of the DC you are interested in testing against.
Hope it works
I bet it will.
