Hi all,

I can access a server by FQDN or IP address, but when I try computer name, I
get a login failure. I checked my dns settings, made sure to add my
company's domain name as a suffix. Am I missing something? I don't have
WINS installed.

Thanks,

Then it probably is an AUTHENTICATION or a
PERMISSION problem.

You have name resolution and basic IP working.

Lack of WINS would be more likely to cause browsing
to fail, not the subsequent mapping of the drive.

What are the permissions on the share (for you account
and it's groups)?

Is your machine, and thus your account, really authenticated?

Check your logon server (command line):

set logon

Herb,

Thanks for your reply. I found the solution on another website that lead to
a Microsoft article.

Thanks,
Donald
