and dl all files except .exe and .com. I have set the dir to allow scripts
and executables but still no go on .exe and .com files. Can someone tell me

Today, most IE browsers are configured not to d/l these types of files to
protect you from accidentally installing or launching malware.
Although it's possible to modify the Registry to permit downloading these
files, a better solution is to rename the files on your server. For example
append a 1
foobar.exe becomes foobar.exe1
After downloading, you can remove what you appended to enable normal behavior.

I hear you, but I don't think that is my problem. It worked before I
installed SBS2003. and I can do it from another computer hosting the same
site. It has to be a setting on the 2003 server... I just can't find it. I
have read throught thousands of posts tonight on google and MSKB. I am
getting nowhere. searching through the registry now.

Figured it out. I had scripts and excutables selected. So it was trying to
run the file and not dl it. Set it to scripts only and .......... it's
working.
