Hi all,

Using SBS2003 (and I also have an identical problem with a full-blown 2003
install), I'm using roaming profiles.
I've set the user profile to \\myAD\myDFSroot\UserDrives\Profiles\%username%
Set the Home Directory to \\myAD\myDFSroot\UserDrives\Documents\%username%
(mapped to M:)
GPO - UC/WS/FolderRedir/Desktop -> Basic (Create a folder for each user
under) \\myAD\myDFSroot\UserDrives\Desktops\%username%
GPO - UC/WS/FolderRedir/MyDocs -> Basic (Create a folder for each user
under) \\myAD\myDFSroot\UserDrives\Documents\%username%

The redirections all work and everything is fine and excellent (other than
my messy folder layout anyway). My problem lies with the refresh of the
clients. I'll create a new file on the desktop, for example, and nothing will
appear to have happened, but if you check the server, a new file would have
appeared, and pressing F5 to refresh the desktop shows the file. Its the same
with renaming files - you rename and press enter, the filename appears to
jump back to the old, while the server updates immediately and an F5 of the
desktop shows the changes.

I'm using XP SP2 clients with SBS2003 on a new install.

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction because I cant take
the client roll-out any further without resolving this.

Many thanks.

Like others who wrote on this, I find users with large sized files really
kills login/logout performance.

I am talking about gigs of user files...

I find shared folders work better... the only drawback is no local copy of
the file.

Perhaps the better all around solution would be to use RWW and leave the
files there...

Thoughts?

TIA.
