Credit Card |

What would be a good component for processing credit cards?
(I am not using commerce server.)
Would I need to encrypt the credit card column in the database? |

Verisign has good component. Though we are using Pay Flow from Verisign for
our commerce server, verisign does offer other options.
If you require to store the Credit card information in database for any
specific purpose, then you have to encrypt it. If this information is not
encrypted, your company may be liable for FTC code violation. Verisign also
offers the ability to process credit card without storing those numbers at
your end.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for Arne to talk about this subject!
Hi Uday,
Since I did ask about this question before... There is a guy namely, David
Messner [MSFT], answered my question he posted a link which goes to the
partners list for those transactionalservices.
http://www.microsoft.com/commerceserver/partners/transactionalservices.asp
These three companies are not the well-known one in my area. But the
Verisign is quite a good one. We would like to use that too.
My question is:
Does the PayFlow from Versign give support on Commerce Server 2002 not 2000?
Is that a module or pipeline to implement into the CS? Do they have a
Developer ..like SDK package to be downloaded?
Thanks in advance!!!

Hi,
I've used a fair few PSPs (Payment Service Providers), mainly Verisign and
DataCash. Most of these guys give you and API to play with that you can
install and use as required and determined by your merchant account (usually
required and set up by the PSP). Occasionally there are some PSPs that will
also give you access via a web service if you prefer. I don't think it's a
case of supporting CommercerServer or not; it's just an API. Most vendors
will supply documentation for the API and examples in various languages to
see you through the simple steps. You can implement these as you like,
either within Pipieline components or within your application, the choice is
yours.
Hope this helps
Matt
