We want to use windows 2003 clustering to implement an exchange 2003
active\passive cluster. Our main goal is to have automatic failover in the
event of server failure. We already have an approved SAN back end for our
shared disk storage.

We would also like to have similar failover capabilities for our main
file\print server.

My question is: Is it possible to have a 3 server cluster (active, active,
passive) where the passive server is the failover server for either the
file\print or the Exchange server? Or do I need to build a file\print cluster
that is separate from the Exchange cluster?

I haven't been able to find anything that says whether this can (or should)
be done.

Thanks

hi bob!

itīs no problem to implement it like you described. you can install one
passiv backup node for both: exchange and file&print clustering.
