i am trying to consume a webservice inside a webpart and web service resides
on the same server and code is successfully compiled along with simple web
service tested manually now when i drag n drop the web part to dashboard it
leads to me the web part maintenance page .. some one help me regarding this
issue

If you are seeing the maintenance page, that indicates that your web part is
throwing an unhandled exception.

In the webpart code, I would suggest that you put in a try/catch block and
either log or display the exception that is occurring.

It was not an issue of unhandled exception, but security permission need to
be amended in wss_minimal.config or wss_medium.config which ever in use for
security configuration. a permission set need to be made for
System.Net.WebPermission
