AD Documentation - Diagrams |
|
|
Hi
Can anyone point me in the direction of some examples of best practice for
documenting AD in terms of diagrams. I have everything documented textually,
but I would like to do some diagrams in Visio to make the AD structure more
understandable for non sys-admins

as per Phil's answer, I'm pretty sure ADMap is only officially available
through MCS, but if you cna get it off them it very useful for anything above
a small environment.

Thanks for your speedy reply. I had seen ADMap mentioned on jsiinc.com,
however, the site that was hosting the file (www.windows-servers.info)
appears to be down. I have since found out that visio up till version 2002
would map AD for you, but Microsoft decided to remove this feature from Visio
2K3. No prizes for guessing what version we are running...

There is a tool that was developed by some Microsoft guys called ADMap that
makes some very good diagrams for replication and a few other things. I am
not sure if it's something you can download from their website or not since
we got it through an MCS guy we had in working with us. If you've got a TAM
I'd give them a call and see if they can get ahold of it for you.
Maybe some of the other Microsoft folks here know how to get ahold of it?
