active directory problem on MS server 2003 |
|
|
I have a newly installed server with os Microsoft Server 2003. I've
installed every security updates needed. After that I've installed DNS
server role and after that Active Directory. After reboot I've tried to set
up the AD role, but I've got the next error message: Naming information
cannot be located for the following reason: The server is not operational.
The DNS server was set up before AD was installed. I've tried to find
solutions but I have no idea what to do.
I've tried to remove the AD role, but it is impossible.

If this is the first server in the forest, point the primary DNS server in
the ipconfiguration to itself.
If this is a subsequent installation of a DC in the forest, point the
primary DNS to another actiev domain controller. |

This isn't my first installation, and before it was working. But I've
installed some security updates, and from that time the AD stopped. I
thought that the reinstall of os will help me, but I am in the same
situation. Lorant |

Active Directory naming error message. |

I found that a 3rd party firewall like Norton Internet Security can cause the same error. Try disabling it and see whether the message goes away. If it does, try a different firewall (I haven't found a way to configure Norton IS to keep from causing the error). _________________ Regards.
