From one forest to another |
|
|
Hello all,
I asked this a while ago, but have changed jobs since then and lost my docs
on it.
Win2k/Exchange2k...
My org are wanting to change the domain name and the exchange org name. I
understand that we will need to create a new AD forest with the name we
choose, how do we go about migrating the mailboxes, pc and user objects,
existing servers etc?
Is it worth getting PSS involved?
Thanks, Andrew |

Jimmy - thanks,
We are wishing to stick with win2k and exchange 2k, are the tools you have
pointed me towards still valid with this OS?
Thanks again, Andrew

IIRC, the guide "Restructuring Active Directory Domains Between Forests" has
procedures that you can follow in this case.
I'm not able to browse the web at the moment, but in my Favorites folder the
shortcut points to:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/WindowsServ/2003/all/deployguide/en-us/Default.asp?url=/resources/documentation/windowsserv/2003/all/deployguide/en-us/dssbi_reer_overview.asp

/Jimmy

What process would you follow for a migration like this then, I've had a
read of the ADMT document, but it doent give an actual procedure to
follow,
would you have one or be able to point me in the direction of one?
TIA, A,ndrew
