I have Trend installed and it appears to be running smoothly. However, when
it removes a virus from an email it still forwards the email on to the user
but with a TXT file attached. How can I set it up so that it will not
forward anything to the user and the message just disappears?

Thanks,
Douglas

Open ScanMail and in the notification section (left column) you can remove
all these notifiations (either attachement blocking and/or virus infected).

Cheers,

The actual problem is that the user receives the email itself, not a
notification. I just want to know how to completely delete the email if it
contains a virus.

Click on the Active Message Filter button in the Scanmail Console
(application, not the web console). Select both inbound and outbound
messages, ensure nothing is selected in the Exclude from filtering section.

On the Main 'Options' Scanmail panel, under Virus Actions, select 'Speciffy
scan actions' radio button. Set *all* of the actions to 'delete'.
In eManager, on the Anti-Spam tab, select Delete.

On the Notification panel, change all the notifcations so that *only* the
event log notification is selected.

Now, any email that matches eManager (spam), or has an Attachment blocked,
(if attachment blocking is enabled - recommended), or contains a Virus
(Scanmail), goes bye bye. No users are bothered.

You have to check the Scanmail R/T monitor, or the event log to see that
action was taken.

I do all of the above, with the exception of eManager - I still Quarantine
that email, because what is not spam today might get tagged tomorrow. This
email can be checked periodically or whenever something goes 'missing' in
Scanmail Quarantine Manager. But do set the Quarantine Maintenance so it
doesn't build forever. I use 7 days for most enviroments, but have double
that for others where users might not go looking for something for quite a
while.
